Christ IS our life! He is all we have, and all we need. Everything we do, we do for Him. One day we will appear with Him in glory. What a marvelous thought!
Pray that many from the Dai people will make Christ their Lord and Savior, so they too can appear with Him in glory. Pray that day will come soon!
Bong! Bong! Went the drums as the celebration began in the Dai village. Music was played from several instruments including drums, and the ground seemed to shake. It’s April, the time for the Water Splashing New Year festival. Beautiful Dai women danced in celebration. At the nearby river the dragon boat races began. The location is Thailand, but the ceremony looks like something you would see in China. In the center of the village was a Buddhist temple. Inside was a statue of Buddha and an altar used to worship various nature spirits. There was no Christian church anywhere within the village.
Hundreds of years ago the Dais lived in China. Then, invading Chinese armies drove some Dai subgroups into Thailand and other parts of Southeast Asia. In China the Dai had worshipped nature spirits. Somewhere along their journey to their new homeland in Thailand they adopted the worship of Buddha. They speak a language similar to Thai. There are few if any worshipers of Jesus Christ among the Dai people.
Pray that a mission agency would reach out to the Dai people. Ask God to open the hearts of this people group to Christ’s message of salvation. Pray that God would break the spiritual hold that Buddhism and animism have on this people group.
