Colossians 3:9-10
Do not lie to each other, since you have taken off your old self with its practices and have put on the new self, which is being renewed in knowledge in the image of its Creator.

The old self is gone, and the new self is here for eternity! This new self is constantly being renewed by the knowledge of the Creator. Though the old self is gone, it continually creeps back again. Submission to Christ is the only way to be renewed.

Pray for many from the Phu Tai people to be renewed in the knowledge of their Creator. Give the few believers among them victory in living under the new self, so that they can glorify Him before their neighbors.

Phu Tai (Foo Tai) People

by CN

If you were to observe the normally reserved Phu Tai people suddenly start dancing and jumping for joy during their annual Pi Tian (Spirit of Heaven) festival, you might ask: “What’s all that commotion going on?”
Pi Tian is a time when the Phu Tai relax and unwind through such events as riding horses, elephants, and shooting arrows. Then comes the festival focal point: a ritual of gathering and offering sacrifices and prayers to the spirit they believe resides in paradise above. After a period of waiting, they believe the spirit actually comes down and performs miracles of healing among them.
The Phu Tai language is part of the Southwestern Tai branch. Unlike most Tai-speaking groups who have converted to Buddhism, however, the Phu Tai remain animists, worshiping 25 different spirits.
Phu Tai means ‘Tai people’, and they are found in Thailand, Vietnam, and Laos. Of the 180,000 Phu Tai in Laos, few have accepted Jesus Christ. There are approximately 150 known Phu Tai believers in Laos today. Yet they do not have their own fellowships, but meet with Lao believers in Protestant and Catholic congregations. After the Vietnam War, a Phu Tai refugee community was set up in the Los Angeles area of the United States.
