Luke 28: 12
When the chief priest had met with the elders and devised a plan, they gave the soldiers a large sum of money…

It was damage control time for the elders and chief priests. They had Christ crucified, only to see Him rise from the dead. They could have bowed their knees to the Risen Christ and acknowledged their sins, but instead, they bribed the guards to say that Christ’s body was stolen. Perhaps this sin was even greater than having Him crucified because they now knew the truth and covered it up from others who might have believed. In today’s world there are millions who do not know about Christ’s resurrection victory; they are still ignorant of the way to salvation. Who will tell them?

Pray for many Hindi speakers to believe when they hear that Christ is lord over death.

Hindi Speakers in London

“If I die tomorrow they’ll put me in a box. I will fight this government ruling against open-air cremation. It is our religious right to be cremated!” Nagesh paced, muttered in Hindi, and swiped at his gray, thinning hair. His daughter Shirin looked up from the website she was reading. “Dad, stop speaking Hindi. You know I don’t understand the old-country language any more.” “That’s another thing. All you young people speak ‘Hinglish” now that we’ve come to this land, either that or English. It’s just terrible.” Nagesh returned to his native Hindi to mutter his frustration.
Shirin sat across from her father. “Dad, we came through the biggest airport in the world to leave the old life and find a better one. Now here we are in East London, just as we dreamed, and you are complaining that it’s not like India. What am I to do with you?”
England is home to 474,000 Hindi speaking immigrants, most of whom live in East London. While many have assimilated into the British culture, some do not want to stop religious practices which clash with British laws like open-air cremation.
