Psalms 49:7-8
No man can redeem the life of another or give to God a ransom for him—the ransom for a life is costly, no payment is ever enough…

Did you see the movie, “The Passion of the Christ”? If you did, you may remember the scene in the Garden of Gethsemane where Satan is trying to tempt Jesus into bypassing the cross. He tells Jesus that it is impossible for one man to pay for the life of another. So true, but so false in this case! Jesus is the only son of the Living God, so He alone can pay for the sins of the world. Muslims try to achieve salvation by obeying the words and laws of Mohammed. But only Christ can pay for their sins. No sin is forgiven, except by the blood of Christ.

Pray that Muslim Bengalis will seek and find their only redeemer, Jesus Christ!

Bengali Muslims

Bipasha’s stomach squirmed; she wasn’t sure if it was from dread or excitement. Not only was she going to have an arranged marriage to her cousin, but she was going to move with him to London. Her sister who already lived there had told her that in the U.K. many opportunities were available. She could even go to school! Having lived with her extended family in a rural compound outside of Khagrachari, Bangladesh, Bipasha did not have much education. Thinking of the large Bengali community and the schools she could attend in London, she grinned with excitement.
More than 300,000 Bengalis live in the U.K., making it their second largest home outside of northeast India and Bangladesh. Their group size gives them social power and political representation. Many of them are in the business community, especially in the restaurant industry’s curry district. Most likely Bipasha will work in a restaurant in West London with many illegal Bengali immigrants. The British government returns illegals to Bangladesh. However, Bipasha’s legal status would enable her to stay and begin school immediately.
The majority of Bengalis in England (60 percent) are from Bangladesh and are Sunni Muslims. Even though the Bible is in their language and video and audio resources are available, there are only a few believers among this people group.
