What is finished you might ask. He finished His task on earth. When Christ died on the cross for our sins, He opened up the way for our sins to be forgiven and for us to have a personal relationship with Him. We can also know that after we die we will have eternal life with Him. All He asks of us is that we believe in Him, trust Him, and let Him take over running our lives. We know that He is currently building up His church in heaven, and He wants people from every tribe and people group on earth to be part of that church. He wants to use us to help build that church by telling the unbelievers the truth about Himself.
Pray that God’s children will quickly tell unreached people groups the good news of Christ’s redemption. It is finished!
There is a section of Queen’s Road in London that looks like it could be a road in Karachi, Pakistan. The shops have signs in Urdu script, and most of the shops sell food, fabric, and jewels from Pakistan. Urdu, not English, is the most common language spoken on this street. There are mosques in this neighborhood, for almost all Pakistanis are Muslims. There are also a few Sikh temples attended by Punjabis from India. But Christian places of worship are almost unknown in this London neighborhood.
There have been Urdu speaking Pakistanis in London since before Pakistan’s independence from Britain in 1947. London’s Pakistani community is very diverse. Some were born in Britain and speak English fluently. Others are immigrants from Pakistan who speak only Urdu. Most Pakistanis try to retain at least a few customs from the old country, such as the food they eat or the clothes they wear. Almost all of them have ties to Islam, be they devout or secularized.
Pray that the Pakistani Muslims in London would realize that Jesus is the only way to truth and spiritual light. Ask God to lead many strong believers to reach out to the Pakistani community, using both the English and the Urdu languages. Pray for wise leaders who will use the right strategies to reach out to these Pakistani Muslims.
