What a reminder of the true nature of man! We are all sinners, and we all need a savior, no matter how “good” we may appear. God has provided one way out of this helpless dilemma. The only Savior, Jesus Christ, paid for every sin when He died on the cross. How all the nations need to hear of His salvation!
Pray that believers will use this Easter season to tell the nations of the savior born to take away the sins of the world. Pray that the unreached peoples will accept that they have sinned, and that only Jesus can reconcile them to the Father.
Looking in the open door as he passed by on the street, he saw people sitting in a circle in the church and wondered what they were doing. The Bible study leader walked to the door. He tried several Chinese dialects before learning that they could converse in Mandarin. “Mandarin isn’t my native tongue,” said the visitor. “I usually speak Wu, the language spoken in Shanghai.” “Welcome,” said the leader. “What brings you to our church?” “What is a church?” asked the visitor. “A place where Jesus is worshipped.” “Who is Jesus? Is he like Buddha?” “Jesus is very different from Buddha,” said the leader. “If you’d like to learn more about Jesus, then you’re welcome to join us.” The man shook his head and walked away. He wasn’t sure if he’d feel comfortable with a group of Chinese that spoke a dialect very different from his own.
Chinese have been living in London since before 1700 A.D. Many early arrivals were sailors. Over the years a thriving Chinese community developed in London. Local believers and missionaries brought the message of salvation to many Chinese people groups in London, but there are no churches for the Wu speakers. This people group speaks a language very different from Mandarin or Cantonese, the language of most of London’s Chinese people. Right now the message of salvation isn’t available to those who speak Wu in London, but there are many Wu believers today in China.
Pray for a mission agency to target the Wu for outreach in London. Pray that Wu believers in China would be led to reach out to their countrymen around the world.
