John 3:19
This is the verdict: Light has come into the world, but men loved darkness instead of light because their deeds were evil.

Can the world become a better place and society be transformed? Certainly that would be wonderful! Unfortunately, mankind chooses to do evil in every generation. What this means is that social transformation as a global goal is simply not achievable before Christ’s coming. Also it is not mandated in Scripture. Nonetheless our job is to proclaim the gospel, just as Jesus did, regardless of the outcome. Jesus was rejected by the majority in His generation. But He succeeded in transforming those who sought after Him, and from that humble beginning, a movement began that has now impacted over two thirds of the world’s peoples—with just one third to go!

Pray that this generation might cross the finish line in reaching the final one third!

Turks in Bulgaria

by KC

“Is a 10 minute Turkish broadcast too much to ask?” the middle aged woman snapped before turning the radio off. Her daughter, nineteen-year-old Mayim, brushed her black hair back and said, “Why is that such a problem?” Mother took a deep sigh, and explained. “A couple of years before you were born, the Bulgarians tried to force us to take Bulgarian names and stop going to the mosque. It got so bad in 1989 that 350,000 of us returned to Turkey. Your father and I almost joined them before things got better.”
Mayim couldn’t imagine living in Turkey. Her people have been in Bulgaria ever since the Ottoman Empire conquered Bulgaria in the 1500s. Though they are an important part of Bulgarian society, the Turks retain their own language and religion.
It is difficult for believers to convince Turks that they need to put their faith in Jesus, not a religious system. Though they are not devoted Muslims, most view Christianity as a political threat. There are two Turkish subgroups in Bulgaria: the Millet Turks and the Rumelian Turks. There are 4,000-5,000 believers among the Millet Turks, but almost no Christians among the Rumelian Turks.

Pray for prayer teams to be established which will prepare the way for a triumphant Rumelian Turkish church to be established in Bulgaria. Pray for Christ to reveal Himself to Turkish Muslims through His Word, which is available in their language. Pray for Turkish JESUS Films to find their way into thousands of homes.
