John 2:16
To those who sold doves he said, “Get these out of here! How dare you turn my Father's house into a market!”

Twice in the ministry of Jesus we see a strong emotional display that leads to physical action. Both relate to commerce inside the temple grounds. The irony of this situation is that those who were selling these items probably thought they were doing a good deed. After all, they were assisting pilgrims during the Passover so they might worship the true and living God. But here is an example of the right thing being done the wrong way. In the Gospel of Mark Jesus expresses His dismay that the “house of prayer for all nations” has been turned into a “den of thieves” (Mk. 11:17). This is the heart of the issue. When does our activity for God become an impediment to those seeking to find Him?

Pray that no believers would place man-made stumbling blocks in the path of unreached people groups.

Lezgian People

by WK

Anya sits in a cottage weaving a carpet. She sometimes talks to the other women who are also weaving carpets. When finished, these carpets will fetch a good price at the market.
Anya and her friends are Lezgians, and they live in the high mountains of Georgia. Nearby, Anya’s young son watches a herd of goats as they feed on the rich green grass of the pasture. The goats provide the yarn needed to weave the carpets. Some Lezgian families also raise sheep, horses, and water buffalo.
The Lezgians are a Muslim people group that lives in the mountains of Georgia, Dagestan, and Azerbaijan. They are a hardy people that live in a land of brutally hot summers and bitterly cold winters. The Lezgians practice a very impure form of Islam, for they never completely gave up worshipping the pagan gods they’d worshipped prior to their conversion to Islam. Recently a few Lezgians have found salvation in Jesus Christ, but there aren’t enough of them to form even one fellowship.

Ask God to protect and strengthen the small group of believers within this people group. Ask God to send missionaries to show the Lezgians that Jesus Christ is better than any other god they currently worship. Pray that a mission agency would soon target the Lezgians for outreach.
