This comment made by the angel of the Lord to Daniel gives us some insight into what happens when we pray. We know from this passage that the Lord responds to our prayers. In this case, he sent His angel to Daniel. But notice that the answer to this prayer was delayed because of the work of the enemy, the Prince of Persia. It may take much regular prayer before the Lord breaks through the spiritual darkness. Will you be one who prays for unreached nations like the Lele people until the Lord is victorious?
Pray that your Heavenly Father will show you if you should continue to pray for the peoples we lifted up this month.
“I am not a hyena!” yelled five-year-old Magumba at his teenaged sister. “You are an animal!” she shouted back at the boy, who had cornmeal covering much of his face. Their mother came out of the hut and said, “Why are you two fighting?” The older girl pointed her long pestle at the boy and accused him. “While I was getting a drink of water, Magumba stuck his head in the mortar and started eating the corn I was grinding. “ Mother took the boy by the ear, and led him into the hut for a good scolding. “Do you know the difference between people and animals? It’s the ability to show good manners. You were acting like an animal when you did that. You don’t want to be thought of as an animal, do you?” The boy shuddered and said nothing. To the 40,000 Lele people of Guinea, manners are the difference between man and beast.
Most of the Lele people are animistic. About five percent of them are Christians of some form, and about two percent are evangelical. However, since there is a small nucleus of Christians, it is possible that there are Lele believers who can take the gospel to their animistic friends and neighbors.
There is a church that wants to reach out to the Lele people. Pray for the door to be opened for this effort.
