Ezekiel 37:1
The hand of the Lord was upon me, and He brought me out by the Spirit of the Lord and set me in the middle of a valley; it was full of dry bones.

In today’s entry, we read about a woman who had a dream about a bone-dry field. Though there are major differences between what she was experiencing and what was prophesied by the prophet Ezekiel, we know that God can use dreams and visions to show people the way they should go. Just as He used Ezekiel’s prophesy in chapter 37 to tell the Israelites about their future, He can also warn people like the Jula Koros about the path that they should take that leads to the cross.

Pray for the Lord to use dreams, visions, and His Word to direct the Jula Koros to Himself.

Jula Koro People

Ife, a tiny Kora baby, played with a wooden rattle. She kept alternating between staring with her big black eyes at the bright orange dots on the toy and shaking it with all the vigor of a 14-month-old; her nearby mother carefully dug out potatoes from the soil. As the youngest wife in her husband’s household, Ife’s mother—barely a woman herself—helped with the harvest. Carrying a basket of potatoes to the pond to wash away the dark soil that encrusted each vegetable, she overheard and detected accomplishment in her husband’s voice, “We have had a bumper crop, indeed!” A smile spread across her beautiful face. However that joy vanished as quickly as it had arrived when another retorted, “What is the use if we are not able to sell this harvest?”
The silence was as ominous as the dream she had dreamt the night before—of a bone-dry field. A devout Muslim, she also believed in omens and signs and spirits that guide and confound. Instinctively gathering her child, she wondered what will become of my Ife and me if the dream did presage pain and suffering? How could the anger of the spirits be assuaged?
