The balance between freedom and obedience is often complicated. God gave Adam and Eve the freedom to choose obedience to the One who created them which would have allowed them to remain in paradise, or to choose disobedience which would lead to spiritual death. Adam and Eve chose not to obey the God who loved them. Today we are praying for the Bedia people, who, like many Muslim people groups, are not allowed the freedom to investigate Christ’s claims and do not know anything about the true and living God.
Pray for leaders in Bedia communities to grant the people freedom so that they can learn about the Savior of the world.
Posuwa smoothed the veil below her beautiful brown eyes and hoped that none of her tears would show during her wedding. In moments she would be wed to Algo, her cousin, to whom she’d been promised as a child. It was the people group’s tradition to marry close kin, but Algo was not someone she wanted to spend her life with. She knew how mean he could be, even to small children. What kind of father would he be? She tried not to think about it. Posuwa and her Bedia people know no other way. She must do as she is told.
How similar are the circumstances Posuwa faces to the circumstances that approximately 2,000 other Bedia females in Nepal face! At this time they have no choice. They are “wedded,” so to speak, to Islam. It is the only religion practiced among this people, and their true Bridegroom can only wait at the door and knock until the Bedia people are willing to open it. While the New Testament has been prepared for them in their language, they are not familiar with it. And who would dare to read it?Learn more at joshuaproject.net
Pray for the New Testament to be distributed far and wide among the Bedia people. Pray for the Lord to put people in place to open the door so that they can know their Heavenly Bridegroom. Pray that the Holy Spirit will stir the hearts of the Bedia people to call on the Name of the Lord and be saved.
