The Tamboli people understand the value of soil making the sprout come up. Without good soil they could not make a living! But how can they give Him thanks and praise if they do not know who He is or what He has done for mankind?
Pray for the Tamboli people to soon give thanks to the King of Kings for His abundant provisions. Pray that they will seek His righteousness, and give Him praise.
The Tamboli man has a brisk business at his betel leaf stall—one of the original roadside businesses in India and Nepal. The leaf, also called “pan,” is cultivated and sold by the Tamboli caste. People from just about every caste and religious community in South Asia enjoy chewing this pungent leaf. Perhaps for this reason the Tambolis are respected and given good status among both Hindus and Muslims. Although there are many Muslim Tambolis in India, there are only about 600 in Nepal.
Sometimes one of the main obstacles that missionaries face in order to reach a people group for Christ is to find the culture keys that will enable the people group to understand that Jesus is relevant to their culture. Don Richardson wrote a book entitled, Eternity in Their Hearts: Startling Evidence of Belief in the One True God, in which he cites the culture keys that unlocked the hearts of people groups around the world.
Ask the Lord to reveal cultural keys that will help the Muslim Tabolis to embrace Him.
Pray that the Holy Spirit will use these keys of insight to ignite a curiosity and spiritual hunger among the Tamboli people of Nepal. Pray that workers will have wisdom and appropriate strategies to use these keys to share the gospel message.
