Genesis 1:28
God blessed them and said to them, be fruitful and increase in number; fill the earth and subdue it.

The mandate to fill the earth and subdue it has clear parallels to the Great Commission. As we go forth in His Name, we are reclaiming this vision of seeing worshipers, who worship in spirit and in truth, giving glory to God in every time-zone on this planet, among every nation, tribe, and people. The end result is that at any given time on this planet praises to God are going forth. While in one time zone a session of praise and worship is coming to a close, in another it is just getting started. Built into the solar system itself is all the technology required for an entire generation to pray and worship without ceasing. Truly our God is an awesome God!

Pray that the Muslim, as well as the Buddhist Tibetan peoples, will soon worship Him in spirit and in truth.

Tibetan Muslims in Nepal

by PD

“On the streets of Kathmandu, Buddhist stupas and Hindu temples are sometimes pushed up against mosques.” Salima, a Tibetan Muslim, was sharing her story with a visitor. “One of the best things about being in Nepal is that most of the people never judge you for your religion. My parents sent me to a Catholic convent school in India for my schooling, and I received an excellent education. While there I learned about Christianity, but my roots are grounded in Islam. I will soon be marrying a Muslim man whom I have known since childhood.”

Generations ago, Tibetan Buddhist men wanted to marry Muslim women from Kashmir. In order to get permission from the Muslim community, the men had to convert to Islam. Later, many of these couples immigrated to Nepal where they are now known as “Tibetan Muslims.” In Nepal they are called Kachee, which is Tibetan for “Kashmir.”

The majority of Kachees live in Kathmandu. They are a Muslim community of 50 families with a population of about 400. Most of them speak Tibetan and maintain Muslim customs. They are usually financially successful, and often will send their children to India for their education. Although they may sympathize with pro-Tibet activists, they do not participate in their protests.
