How easy it is to be caught up in sin’s deception, thereby losing the joy Jesus has promised us. One of sin’s most enticing deceptions is the insistent call to look out for our own interests first. In contrast, God’s Word tells us that when we seek God’s kingdom and His righteousness, He will take care of us. We need daily encouragement. A major purpose of this daily devotional guide is to encourage each of us to have God’s concern for the salvation of all peoples. Our hearts will become hardened if we know of their need and God’s love, and we do nothing.
Pray that the Father will make our hearts sensitive to His love, not only towards us, but also for those who still do not know about Jesus.
“Here come the girls!” The Hmong Leng boys ran into the town square to meet the girls who just arrived in two pick-up trucks. Thus began the mating game tradition of their people. Beautifully adorned with silver jewelry, the girls stepped down from the trucks and lined up on one side facing the boys. Girls started to throw a black cloth ball to the boy of their choice. Shuffling back and forth, the game continued until at the end the couples paired-up and made plans to meet later. Many of the boys used motorcycles to leave when the game is over.
The Hmong Leng people are widespread and populous. There are about 250,000 in southern China’s Yunnan Province. Another estimated 250,000 are in Vietnam, Laos, Thailand, and some have migrated to the United States.
As some of their young adults move into the cities, this group has become more modernized. The young men are known to be good businessmen. But most still respect their traditions and culture. Many of the Leng women still wear their traditional dark and red colored dresses. Most Lengs still have a spirit and ancestral altar in their homes and seek the spirits for life’s answers and blessings.Learn more at joshuaproject.net
Pray for the Lord to prepare and send His servants to reach this people group that has so few followers of Christ. Pray that those who go to the cities will have a chance to hear and respond to the gospel.
