We fool ourselves if we think world evangelization is simply a task requiring more effort. The proclamation of God’s Kingdom is a frontal attack on rebel-controlled territory that will meet Satan’s fiercest resistance and opposition. The battle is essentially spiritual. If you intend to involve yourself in the battle—as a sender, mobilizer, missionary or as a faithful intercessor—be prepared for attacks greater than you’ve ever experienced before.
Pray that the Lord will give us wisdom and protection as we enter into the spiritual conflict.
Wei peeked around the corner into the kitchen and saw that his grandmother was sweeping the floor, so he sat in front of the god-wall and quickly scooped some of the steaming rice from the offering bowl into his mouth.
“Aaaaaayeeeee!” Grandmother Ming Yue came running, swinging her broom at the nine-year-old. “That is an offering for the gods! You cannot eat it.” “Which god?” Wei asked, quickly replacing the bowl. “The whole wall is covered with them.”
And so it is. The Teochiu Chinese people are very superstitious and have entire walls covered in altars to various gods. Their biggest fear is lack of monetary prosperity. Pray that the 180,000 Teochiu Chinese living in Cambodia will soon be presented with the Word of the One True God and be freed from a life of fear and idolatry. They are the only Chinese people group living in Cambodia that actually has a church, although the number of believers are thought to be less than 100. Pray that these believers will grow strong in the faith. Pray that they will be protected and encouraged by the Holy Spirit, and that the light of their faith will shine brighter and brighter until their people have seen the glory of the living Christ.
