Revelation 1:17b-18
Do not be afraid. I am the First and the Last. I am the Living One; I was dead, and behold I am alive for ever and ever! And I hold the keys of death and Hades.

This is what the Apostle John saw in his vision of the Risen Christ. Jesus Christ is the first and the last, and He holds the keys of death and Hades. There is no other who can take His place. Mankind has tried over and over again to replace the true Lord with false messiahs almost as soon as He rose to be with the Father.

Pray that both Muslim and Hindu Sindhis will soon understand that they need to follow the true and risen Messiah.

Hindu Sindhi People in Houston

by PE

“God’s blessings on Hindus, Muslims and everyone else.” In Houston, Akram recited his usual evening prayer in the way of the Hindu Sindhis, with respect and tolerance for all.

In 1947 Akram’s people were displaced from the Sind Province of what is now Pakistan, when Muslim Pakistan broke away from primarily Hindu India. Having both a Hindu and Muslim population, Sindhis were caught in the middle of an emerging violent upheaval. Large numbers of Hindu Sindhis fled to India or to the West where about 8,000 families began new lives. Many now reside in the Greater Houston area of Texas where some are active in politics. They calmly stand up for religious rights, women’s rights, non-violence, democracy, and peace.

Orthodox Hindus sometimes call Sindhi Hindus “blotting paper” because they are so tolerant that they “absorb” into the cultures of their new homes. The Sindhi Hindus are very different from many other Hindu ethnic groups in that they don’t recognize Hinduism’s caste system. What some would call kind and gentle, others consider heretical.

Pray that believers in Houston will embrace the Sindhis and invite them into their hearts and homes in order to share the love of God with them and impart salvation by faith in Jesus Christ. Pray that these flexible people will “absorb” the ways of Jesus instead of the secular ways of the West.
