One of the easiest mistake for us to make is to dehumanize people because they are from a nation that we consider “enemies.” God, in His wisdom, has called some from every nation to become part of His Kingdom, and He wants to use His children as His ambassadors. When our minds are renewed, we can understand what God wants from us, and also from those we consider to be our “enemies.”
Pray that each of us will have our minds transformed so that we can understand what He wants us to do, even if it means reaching those outside our comfort zone.
Texans are not the only ones who think big! Libyans want to improve their infrastructure, and they want to do it fast, according to a 2008 article in the Houston Business Journal. Houston is a good model for improvements. That city has drastically improved their roads in the last 40 years. The City of Houston has sponsored several programs to train Libyan engineers to build and maintain homes, roads and water systems in Libya. More than 100 Libyan executives, engineers and technical specialists have been learning from their American counterparts during the past three years. Though most of the training has been in Texas, they are also viewing subways in New York City and environmental projects in Texas, California and Florida. Faculty from Rice University, the University of Houston and Texas A&M have been teaching numerous courses to the Libyans.
This project, which started three years ago, gives Americans and Libyans a chance to meet together for a common goal. It also provides Christ’s followers a chance to meet Libyan Arabs in a place where they can freely share ideas.Learn more at joshuaproject.net
Pray that Christ’s followers in Texas who have contact with Libyans will learn how to relate to them in a loving and understanding way. May Libyans come to know the truth of God’s redeeming grace and joy found in His Word and through the Savior.
