Romans 6:23
For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

This verse is the gospel in a nutshell! Our sin has separated us from the Creator, resulting in eternal death. But eternal life is offered through Christ Jesus! This eternal life is a free gift to all who will receive it. But we must remember that it wasn’t free for Christ; it cost Him death on the cross. We must freely, willingly and zealously offer God’s gift to the unreached. The Great Commission may cost us our money, our children, or our church leaders, but obedience is the only reasonable response to God’s wonderful love.

Pray that we may be as thankful for our salvation as Patty was the day she accepted God’s gift, the same gift she now shares with others.

Missionary Biography, Patty Lane

by Patty Lane

“I had the blessing of being born into a family that valued the Bible, church attendance and prayer. I was the fourth of five children, and for many years we had family devotions. One of my older brothers had not yet given his life to Christ, so the focus of our devotional time for several weeks was on making sure that he had the information and opportunity to make that decision for himself.”

“No one was really thinking about my processing the message. But one night at our church I stepped into the aisle to tell the pastor that I was giving my life to God. My father caught the back of my dress and asked me what I was doing. When I told him he quickly suggested I should wait until my mom was there so we could talk about it at home. My father and I talked to the pastor for a long time after the service that night. A few weeks later my older brother and I were baptized together. I remember very clearly the relief I felt as I prayed for God’s Spirit to live inside me and to help me obey whatever God asked me to do.”
