Psalms 33:8
Let all the earth fear the Lord; let all the people of the world revere Him.

The Lord wept at Lazarus’ tomb (John 11:35). He wept over Jerusalem (Luke 19:41). He suffered distress of spirit over men’s hardness of heart (Mark 3:5). Do you think He is grieves today because “all the earth” does not fear Him, that “all the people of the world” do not yet revere Him? He bore sin’s penalty—death on the cross—for each one of us! Think of it—the only Son of God being brutally beaten and killed in a merciless death so that God the Father can show mercy to us! But millions do not know this. How that must grieve Him! Does it grieve us as well?

Pray that the Holy Spirit will make you more sensitive to His yearning for the unreached. Pray that you will be faithful to pray for unreached people groups like the Chinese in France.

Chinese People in Paris

by WK

The first Chinese arrived in Paris during World War I. The French government had recruited 150,000 Chinese from Wenzhou Province to work in factories. Two thousand of them remained in the Belleville District of Paris after the war. Their descendents created a thriving Chinatown.

Yao’s family has lived in Paris for a hundred years, ever since the French government recruited his great grandfather to do factory work, while French soldiers fought the Germans during World War I. Yao looks Chinese, but he speaks better French than Chinese. He has never been to China. Like his parents, Yao worships Buddha and tries to live by the teachings of some of the ancient Chinese philosophers. He doesn’t know what it takes to follow Jesus Christ.

Most Chinese in Paris practice some form of Buddhism, often mixed with other traditional Chinese teachings. There are almost no Christians, even nominal ones, among them.

Pray that a mission agency will target the Chinese in Paris for outreach. May God speak to this people group in dreams and visions. Pray for radio and literature outreach, as well as child evangelism. Pray for spiritual growth and maturity of Christ followers in Paris so that they can reach out to their Chinese neighbors. May they become an effective witness for the Lord.
