John 19:30
Jesus said, “It is finished.” With that, He bowed His head and gave up His spirit.

What is finished? You might ask. Because of the fall of Adam and Eve, Satan claimed authority over the peoples of the earth. With Jesus’ sacrifice of Himself, He entered into a horrid struggle to reclaim His own, what was His by right of creation. Jesus won the victory over the evil one. The war over Satan’s claim to those peoples still in darkness is finished, and Christ is the victor. Satan’s claim is finished for eternity! All he can do now is deceive the nations into taking a path that leads them away from the Lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world.

Pray that God’s children will quickly tell the Laotians in Paris the good news of Christ’s redemption. Praise God for redeeming those who call on His Name! It is finished!

Laotians in Paris

by PE

Jacque’s eyebrows furrowed as he processed what his Laotian friend, Taj, from the university had just said. “You say there are more Laotians in Thailand and Western countries than in Laos. How can that be?” Taj replied, “Many became refugees during the Vietnam war. You’ll find that the lighter skinned, upper class, more traditional Laotians settled here in France and in Australia. There are about 40,000 of us here in France.

“Here we are in the Chinatown of Paris. You’ll notice that the Vietnamese, Thai, and Laotian restaurants are all congregated in this area. Here is #1, and across the street is #2. They are part of the same business, and serve the same food, but if one gets crowded the guests are guided across the street to be better served.”
Jacque nodded at the explanation then entered the sleek, modern, glass and marble Restaurant #1 with Taj to enjoy some tasty, inexpensive and healthy Lao food. Jacque’s stomach growled when he smelled the noodles boiling.

The scriptures say that we do not live by bread alone. While the 40,000 Laotian people around Paris enjoy their restaurants and seek spiritual bread at their wat (Buddhist Temple), their souls go unfed without the guidance of Jesus Christ.

Pray that believers in Paris will reach out to the Laotians living among them. Pray for a great move of the Spirit so that Laotian people will accept His guidance and lordship.
