What Paul was describing here was the extension of God’s Kingdom into the hearts and lives of people who previously were in bondage to darkness. Like the Apostle John who quoted His Lord as exhorting us to love one another, Paul is telling believers to do the same. Now in the 21st Century, others are exhorting Yakut believers to love others in the fellowship of Christ.
Pray that the Yakut believers will continue to persevere in passing on Christ’s love, and in turn, extend His Kingdom to others in Siberia.
Through the dark and cold of the Siberian winter, God’s Holy Spirit now indwells many Yakut people in Russia’s Sakha Republic (Yakutia) with the warmth and glow of His love.
The missionaries who have labored 16 years in Yakutia write, “We attended the first day of the 12th annual Yakut Christian Conference last March (2010) and said our ‘good byes’ to more than 200 Yakut Christians. “It wasn’t easy,” the missionaries continue, “We were overwhelmed by their love.”
Each Yakut church and some individuals took their turn to publicly express their appreciation for the missionaries’ long term of service with them, especially for the Christian literature the missionaries have developed in the Yakut language. As well as the Bible, the literature includes the booklet Growing in Our Christian Lives, and The Lamb, a colorfully illustrated book explaining that Jesus is the Lamb of God.
The missionaries also ask for prayer for Sasha, a leader in the Yakut church in Churapcha, a city of about 10,000 people. Sasha and his wife, who is also a Christian, regularly receive spiritual help from the Yakut church in Yakutsk, Yakutia’s capital city, as well as from other Yakut believers passing through the region.Learn more at joshuaproject.net
Pray for the continued growth of the Yakut Church throughout Yakutia. Pray for the church in Churapcha, that the believers will be “one in spirit and purpose” (Philippians 2:2). Pray for the spiritual growth of Yakut and Russian believers through the studying and applying of God’s Word to their daily lives.
