Proverbs 24:12
“Rescue those being led away to death…. If you say, ‘But we knew nothing about this,’ does not He who weighs the heart perceive it?”

Today millions of people in thousands of unreached people groups continue to be “led away” to death by the evil one. The Scott family recognized this, and did all they could to rescue such people, including putting their lives in jeopardy. As a follower of Christ, you know that He is the only One who can lead us from death to life. What will you do about it?

Pray for God to raise up more men and women to follow in the footsteps of the Scott family.

Missionary Biography, Continued

by AL

“Well, friends, you are going forth — I have come back. It is no child’s play; it is a battle!” Those Peter Cameron Scott challenged to join him in Africa knew that he spoke out of his own painful experience. Nevertheless, he was determined to return to Africa. And when he did, seven others went with him. This was the beginning of the Africa Inland Mission (AIM).

Arriving in Zanzibar, Scott found that others were already doing missionary work there. So Scott and his little band went inland, hoping to establish a chain of mission stations from the east coast of Africa to Lake Chad, deep in the interior. The going was rough from the start. More missionaries died than Africans became believers during those first years. Still other missionaries came, one after another, to replace them, but now they arrived with their goods packed in coffins! The Africans were amazed by this determination. “Surely only a message of great importance would inspire such actions…” they said.
A year after Scott’s arrival in East Africa, he was joined by his parents and his sister Ina, which was a great encouragement to him. From the annual report that he submitted, it is clear that Scott was always optimistic about the future. The report, submitted in 1896, told enthusiastically that “four stations had been opened, houses had been built, and educational and medical programs had been set up.”
