One of the ways that God glorifies Himself is through His children’s righteous actions on behalf of the needy. In this case, SIM International workers are providing health care to people who would otherwise lack this basic need. How are you helping to bring about clean water plus justice and righteousness to the world?
Pray that the Holy Spirit will reveal to you what He wants you to do for His Name’s sake.
Most of us who read the GPD take clean drinking water for granted, but large areas of Asia and Africa do not have access to this basic necessity. The need for potable water is great in Sudan. SIM International is trying to provide for the most basic needs of people in Sudan. They are trying to provide health and hygiene training, run health clinics, and help them obtain clean drinking water.
The program, “Rebuilding Southern Sudan: Church and Nation,” includes very practical health and clean water intervention efforts. The first project was bringing a water system to a medical clinic. A Christian Ethiopian water-drilling partner has been a great asset to the SIM International team. As the team visits different communities, they discuss with leaders how they can help. This often results in whole communities spending the day learning the basics of health and hygiene and also learning the basics of the Bible. In one community SIM International worked with the villagers to make sand filters out of 200-liter fuel drums. The people can now collect clean, filtered water. Last February an SIM team started a project to drill four water wells before the onset of the rainy season in May.Learn more at joshuaproject.net
Pray that as the Sudanese have access to clean drinking water, they would also have access to Jesus, the living water. Pray for opportunities this year to provide more clean water projects before the rainy season begins once again.
