Perhaps one of the reasons why the children of Israel were allowed to suffer so long in Egypt was that they would know what it was like to be oppressed. Then they would not mistreat foreigners once they became a nation. It was clear that their God wanted them to show justice to aliens when they became a nation, to show the world what could happen when people follow the One True God.
Pray that you and the people of your land will demonstrate justice and mercy to the aliens in your midst.

So what has Albania to do with Egypt, this month’s prayer topic? About 23,000 Tosk-speaking Shqip Albanians live in Egypt. They frequent coffee houses where they sing traditional polyphonic folk songs.
Tosk-speaking Albanians have been in Egypt at least since the late 1700s. Yet despite their attitudes of religious toleration and open-mindedness, fewer than two percent are Christian. Sadly, there are no current efforts to plant churches among them in Egypt. However, the Bible is available in their language.
