What courage, and what insight! Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego teach us at least three lessons as we confront the challenge of principalities and powers raised up against the knowledge of God. First, God is able to deliver His servants from danger, and give us great boldness and confidence. Nothing is too hard for Him! Second, He is not obligated to rescue His servants from physical harm; His power is directed by His wisdom. Third, a balanced view of God’s ability and His providence keeps us from timidity on the one hand or presumption on the other.
Pray that our wonderful Lord will teach us to walk in truth and wisdom as we face challenges to His authority.
Afareen cautiously came down the precarious steps clutching her chador with her hand while carefully leading her three-year-old from the health house where the behvarzan (health care workers) gave him vaccinations. Three years ago she would never have believed that she would live to see this day. Had it not been for the astute behvarzan she would have died in childbirth.
Afareen lives with her husband and his family in a rural hamlet in the mountainous regions of the Markazi Province of Iran, which is home to the Astiani people. Her husband and his family are rug weavers. Till recently their village did not have proper medical facilities and delivering a child was almost always done by midwives who were themselves members of the family.
Afareen had had a difficult pregnancy and on examining her, the old aunt who delivered babies wrung her hands in dismay saying that only Allah could help. They wouldn’t be able to take her to the nearest health-center on time. Afareen’s husband Akram who had heard about the health house, without wasting any more time fetched the female behvarzan, who delivered the baby efficiently.
While the primary health care system in these regions might have improved and may well be on the road to being robust, these people do not have any access to resources that could lead them to the Savior.Learn more at joshuaproject.net
Pray that the Astiani people will soon have access to the life-changing gospel.
