Daniel 4:32
You will eat grass like cattle…until you acknowledge that the Most High is sovereign over the kingdoms of men and gives them to anyone He wishes.

Daniel’s fourth chapter is a kind of celebrity tract in which the most powerful king of his day tells the story of how God broke his pride and stubbornness and how, in simple childlike surrender, he came to acknowledge the Most High God as his Sovereign. Nebuchadnezzar describes his conversion in these terms, “I raised my eyes toward heaven, and my reason returned to me and I blessed the Most High…” When we are tempted to believe that any individual, any people, or any nation is beyond the saving power of God, we should be reminded that the king’s heart is in the hand of the Lord; He directs it like a watercourse wherever He pleases.

Pray that God will give us the faith to trust Him for mighty miracles in the hearts of men and nations.

Persians in Iran

Fatima’s lips were quivering when she saw what her brother was watching on TV. “Ahmed, you shouldn’t watch that show. The police will arrest you,” she said. “I’m searching for Allah’s truth,” replied Ahmed, discreetly turning the volume down on the Christian outreach program. “Then go to the mosque,” she said. “The imam just preaches empty rules and rituals,” he replied. “There must be more to life than that.”

In recent years a booming youth movement toward faith in Jesus Christ has begun among the Persians of Iran. An Armenian missionary named Haik Hovespian started this faith movement during the late 60s. Later, gospel satellite television broadcasts spread the message of salvation all across Iran. The Iranian Revolution of 1979 caused more Persian youths to put their faith in Jesus as Lord and Savior. The Iranian government reacted by persecuting Christians. Haik Hovespian was executed for heresy in 1994, but the movement to Christ continues to this day.
