It is very ironic and sad that those who believe the theology of the Twelvers in Iran today are the most likely to persecute those who follow Christ, while at the same time, they are the ones who look forward to a day of great justice when the Twelfth Imam will return. Unless they repent, they will persecute those who follow the True Lord and King while looking for someone other than Christ.
Pray for Iran’s Twelvers to turn to the One who can bring justice and mercy to the world.
Ali sat on the floor in the corner of his home, his head cupped in his hands. He was home alone for the next two hours. Ali groaned in frustration. He was tired of His father’s stories of the 12 imams. If he had to listen to his father explain one more time about the importance of the 12 imams, he would scream!
Ali was a member of a devout Shi’ite Muslim family of the “Twelvers” sect. Ali’s Father had attended a school that integrates the teaching of law and theology of the Twelvers. Ali’s father had memorized all of the names of the 12 imams. He was taught that the first 11 imams had died. Imam number 12 was believed to be hidden and one day would return to establish justice in the world. The Shi’ite Muslims who rule Iran are partial to the doctrine of the Twelvers.
Ali was not allowed to speak up against his Father’s belief in the 12 imams. He must follow with no questions asked. Ali looked at the clock and realized his father would be home soon. He lifted his head out of his hands and quickly went to the sink to wash his face. Just as Ali finished washing his face he heard his father walk in the door. Instantly his look of frustration disappeared.Learn more at joshuaproject.net
Pray for God to quietly send people to families like Ali’s to share the gospel of Christ, the One who will come instead of the Twelfth Imam.
