Giving is a privilege that most Bania people do not experience. Though many Hindu communities understand this, the Banias are noted for hording rather than giving.
Pray for the Holy Spirit to direct these wealthy and prominent people to give to worthy causes that will enrich them and India as a whole.

When we think of power, control and wealth, we usually think of the adult world. Yet in the life of the Bania people of India, power and control is taught at a very young age. This way of living permeates everyday life and is easily absorbed by young children. The act of giving is non-existent in Bania communities. Their lack of giving helps them maintain an elite position generation after generation. About 6,500,000 Bania people live in India, mostly in the northern states.
The Bania people are totally absorbed in materialism and consumerism. This is intertwined with the Hindu religion. They have no fear of death since they are taught that they will be reincarnated to a higher position in the next life. This belief confirms to the Banias that the life they live as bankers, moneylenders, or dealers in groceries and spices is only the beginning. The reincarnated life will give them even more.
