This is God’s will: that all will come to know Him, and know the truth. Muslim peoples like the Huis are very much concerned with truth. They have embraced a religion that claims divine truth. If you have ever had a Muslim tell you about their beliefs or if you have read the Qur’an, it sounds so true! But yet, it does not lead one to putting one’s faith in the truth of Christ’s atoning sacrifice.
Pray that China’s Hui Muslims will soon find truth and come to a saving faith in the only Savior.
Could you name China’s largest minority group? If you guessed the Hui people, you are correct. There are probably about 20 million of them in China. Their distinction from the majority Han Chinese, other than their high cheekbones and round eyes, is their Muslim identity. The Hui people of China’s north central Ningxia Province are easily identified by the white headscarf that the women wear and the white cap worn by the men. They are probably the largest people group in the world without a single known fellowship of believers. There is a large Han Chinese church emerging in northern Ningxia, but thus far they have not reached out to the other Hui people.
The Huis, along with the Han Chinese peoples, are subject to China’s one child policy. The government began a program to persuade Hui couples to have contraceptive surgery after the birth of their first child in exchange for a financial reward. Many of the elderly among the Huis do not have pensions or a family member to care for them.Learn more at joshuaproject.net
Pray for the Han Chinese believers in Ningxia to see the Hui as their mission field. Pray that the government will recognize the mistake they have made with this one child policy, and the resulting high abortion rate and sterilization procedures, and change this policy.
