Thirty-five hundred years ago, Pharaoh tried to control the population of their Jewish slaves by killing the boy babies. Just as God spared the children of Israel, He will spare other nations as well.
Pray that God will spare the Akha people just as he spared His children thousands of years ago.
In the Old Testament, when Pharaoh felt threatened by the Israelites, he ordered male babies to be exterminated (Ex. 1:16). Centuries later, when King Herod heard a king had been born in Israel, he “gave orders to kill all the boys…” (Matt. 2).
Today, the Akha people find themselves subject to this same barbaric treatment. When they take their babies to the hospital, they are often turned away. Mothers must watch their children die in their arms as they wait in vain to see doctors. Health care workers question pregnant Akha women about the size of their families. Sterilization procedures are then performed without their consent. There is even a “vaccine” to keep them from catching the “disease” of pregnancy.
What could possibly motivate such brutal behavior? The answer is racism. The Akhas are a tribal people who live in the hills of China and Thailand. Perhaps other people groups feel threatened by them. Whatever the reason, there is a quiet genocide taking place against the Akha people.Learn more at joshuaproject.net
Pray for God to protect the Akhas from the hatred of those around them. Ask for the Lord of the Harvest to send workers into this field to tell the Akha people that they have been specially created for a unique purpose: to know, love and worship Jesus Christ. Pray for the Akhas to become a source of life, turning even their persecutors toward the light of the Savior.
