If you have been using the GPD for any length of time, you will notice that we are constantly praying some variation of this prayer for many of the unreached people groups. By using this daily prayer guide for the nations, you are praying for Him to send out workers. But still, the workers are few. Could it be that He is calling some to the harvest field, and people are either not listening, or unwilling to go?
Pray that those God calls will have receptive hearts to His Kingdom work.
A cluster of 40 people groups in the North Caucasus are humanly impossible to reach for Christ, but with God all things are possible!
There are a number of very daunting obstacles, so prayer is vital for reaching these groups. One obstacle is a lack of unity. These 40 groups hold one religion in common: Sunni Islam. Most practice the more emotional Sufi form of this religion.
But that is where the commonality stops. Each group has its own distinct language and culture. This creates a lot of tension and mistrust among these groups. They are plagued by a soaring crime rate. The few local churches find it difficult to work together because of these tensions. Another obstacle is a mistrust of outsiders. If a follower of Christ answers the call to work among these diverse people groups, permission to live in the region is very hard to obtain, and when it is given, permission to stay for long periods is rarely granted. This makes it nearly impossible for missionaries to stay long enough to get to know these people and leave a lasting impact.Learn more at joshuaproject.net
Pray that the small local churches will work together with love and unity to reach this challenging people group cluster. Pray that each of these Bible-less peoples will have their own Scripture translation. Pray for workers who are attempting to live among them. Pray for a faithful team of intercessors for each people group in this region. (Those interested in joining such a prayer group can start by contacting: firstname.lastname@example.org)
