“My mouth will tell of Your righteousness, of Your salvation all day long, though I know not its measure.”
Can any of us even fathom the righteousness of the Lord? No, not one of us! We can believe in His righteousness only by faith. Yet we can experience His genius and goodness through His creation. We can allow His love and mercy to penetrate our hearts when we read His Word. And we can thank Him for sending His Son to redeem us from sin, and call us to become part of His kingdom.
Pray that soon the remote Budig people will hear of and respond to the righteousness of the Creator.
One profile on this obscure people states: “The Budugs speaking in the Budug language live in the village of Budug.” Although that isn’t terribly helpful, it does remind us that there are groups we have never heard of residing in regions of the world that are unfamiliar to us. Despite their “unknownness,” they are still loved by God, sought after by Him, and are the focus of His Great Commission.
Part of the reason Budugs are a mystery to most of the world has to do with their homeland. They live in remote mountain settlements in the rocky, desert wilderness of Azerbaijan. Many of their villages can only be reached during the summer.
The name “Budug” comes from a Turkish word for “angry” or “violent.” It was bestowed upon this people group by their neighbors, who apparently considered them less than friendly.
There are only about 5500 Budugs. According to Joshua Project, they are 99.9 percent Muslim. If this estimate is correct, that means that at most only five Budugs are following Christ.

Ask Him to empower His laborers to share the truth that He sent His own Son to reach and rescue a faraway, hard-to-reach, angry people (all of mankind) from their sins. Pray for translators who will provide the Bible for the Budug people so they can know and appreciate God’s indescribable gift.-CL
