Psalms 29:11
"The Lord gives strength to His people; the Lord blesses His people with peace."

Peace often eludes oppressed people, who are constantly being controlled by more powerful groups. The Lord gives strength and an ability to forgive through the power of His Holy Spirit. Those without the Holy Spirit, namely the non-believers, have no access to this supernatural source of peace. For that reason, they resort to bitterness, revenge and rage that only serve to increase their pain and misery.

Pray that Hindu tribes like the Tarkhans will seek and find the peace of the Holy Spirit as they endure hardships at the hands of their more numerous Muslim neighbors.

Tarkhan People of Pakistan

Jassa is wealthy, educated, proud, and fiercely independent. Jassa is like his father and his father’s father before him. His people have served courageously as fighter pilots as well as in crack commando units of the Punjab and Sikh Regiments of the Indian Army. He is a Tarkhan, an ethnic tribe in the Punjabi-speaking region of Pakistan and India.

While Jassa’s people have worked in engineering, landowning, politics, science, and medicine, their most notable feature is that they are also almost entirely Hindu who are accustomed to worshipping a large number and variety of gods. Non-Muslims, especially those in the military, are often looked upon with suspicion in Muslim Pakistan. What would happen if Pakistan went to war with Hindu India again? Would the non-Muslims in their military betray them? Can Pakistan’s military take the chance of having such capable, but independent people defend their country?

The Tarkhans have managed to rise to the top in all they do. But one can gain the whole world, and lose his soul if they do not depend solely on Jesus Christ.

Pray for success to come to the Tarkhan people in finding their way to the only Savior of all mankind. Pray that the God of the Bible would reveal to Tarhkan leaders that He alone is all they need, and He alone is worthy of praise.-MB
