Psalms 57: 9

“I will praise You, O Lord, among the nations; I will sing of You among the peoples.”

One of the most successful missionary efforts in Church history came from St. Patrick and his English Celtic missionaries who went to Ireland. They didn’t preach the gospel, they sang it! From castle to castle and village to village, these missionaries praised the Lord, and drove “the snake” out of Ireland. After 15 years, all but Ireland’s southern regions were completely reached. This new church fanned out, first into the remote forests of Ireland, then into continental Europe to sing His praises. Worship is a powerful force everywhere. It ushers us into His presence, and empowers us to do His work.

Pray that the Mirasis, an artistically talented but degraded people, will find their Savior and declare His glory like the Celts of long ago.

Mirasi People in Pakistan

“Come here, my child.” The wealthy imam’s eyes followed the seductive dance of the 10-year-old girl, Dara. “Come here and be my wife.” He had already paid a price for Dara’s childhood and virginity. The imam would use her for a while, then when he tired of her, she would be discarded.

Dara is of the Mirasi caste. She was highly valued at birth for being a girl. She was taught intricate, and lengthy songs from early childhood. Some songs are up to a thousand verses and chronicle a family’s geneology. She learned to accompany her songs with a drum while her little brother learned wind instruments to entertain people at ceremonies and celebrations. But it is Dara and her sisters who are the main support for the family. If Mirasi girls do not please their clients, their families may go hungry.

Pray that Mirasis will find freedom and genuine love from the Savior, Jesus Christ, who said, “Let the children come unto me.” Pray that the Mirasi community may be freed from the invisible chains of caste and know the love, acceptance and value as children of God. Pray that armies of believers will invade the dark places of the night where the Mirasis work and carry the light of the gospel through prayer and outreach.-PE
