The story of the fall is about deception. The first recorded words out of Satan’s mouth were distortions of God’s Word. This indicates a serious breach of trust between these two characters. When we believed the lie, we entered into that relationship problem. Something sacred and precious had been broken, then lost. The rest of the Bible documents God’s unwavering desire and tireless effort to rebuild that sacred trust among every people. But defeating a lie can be costly. For it is one thing to forcefully rescue someone, and entirely another if the hostage has been lied to so they don’t trust the rescuers.
Pray that the Komati people will turn away from any lies they have believed, especially the lie that they can be “good” enough for God, and put their trust in their true rescuer.
Conflict between members of the Komati caste is nothing new. Long ago, they split into three sub-castes. One is strict vegetarian, while the other two eat meat. According to legend, the king at that time had no children, although he and his wife had been married many years. One day they consulted a guru who advised them to perform certain rituals. After this, the couple had twins, a boy and a girl. The boy was considered highly qualified to become king one day, while the daughter was intelligent, sensitive and artistic. The daughter grew into a beautiful young woman. A neighboring king wanted to marry her, but she refused, stating that she wished to remain single her entire life and to avoid worldly concerns. Rejected, the king took his grievance to the girl’s father, who decided to let his daughter make the final decision. Once again, she declined, and war broke out. The girl was distraught; she proposed to eliminate war through non-violence and self-sacrifice. She threw herself into a fire pit, thinking that would eliminate the conflict between the two Komati kingdoms. Her plan failed, and there was no unity. Those who sided with the girl became pacifists and vegetarians. The others went their own way.Learn more at joshuaproject.net
Pray for the Komatis to reconcile their differences through the power of the Holy Spirit. Pray that they would come to know Jesus Christ and understand that it’s not what goes into a man’s mouth that makes him unclean, but what comes out of his mouth, from his heart (Matt. 15:11).-JWS
