Yikes! The bowls of incense we are filling up will come hurling down upon the earth in such a way that there will be catastrophic change. The earth will never be the same after the prayers of the saints fill the golden bowls. Are you ready for that?
Pray that as India Gospel Outreach workers spread out throughout Uttar Pradesh that they will teach not only about the loving-kindness of Christ, but also of the wrath to come. Pray that God will prepare thousands of hearts to repent and turn to Him.
Each year millions of Indians flock to Varanasi to seek salvation at the Ganges River. Soon they may find the Water of Life, Jesus Christ. Varanasi, a Hindu pilgrimage center, is in Uttar Pradesh, India’s most populous state. It is made up of 225 separate ethnic groups.
Historically Uttar Pradesh has been frustratingly difficult to reach with the gospel. That prognosis is changing thanks to India Gospel Outreach’s (IGO) dynamic new goals and strategies. IGO’s Punjab Bible College sent 22 graduates to pass out 1.7 million gospel tracts to pilgrims in the 2001 pilgrimage. More than 40,000 people responded in writing that they prayed to receive Christ, and now in 2009 many of these who responded have also heard God’s call to reach their own people for Jesus.
Multiplication is the key. In January of 2008, 25 Punjab Bible College graduates went to Lucknow and Farrukabad. In 11 months they made thousands of contacts, and they are now seeing encouraging responses. IGO is dividing Uttar Pradesh into five zones with the plan to set up Bible Training Centers in each, modeled after the India Bible College in south India. Their goal is to plant 500 churches in five years.Learn more at joshuaproject.net
Pray for quick implementation of this strategy. Pray that the Indian Church will rise to the occasion to fund this bold evangelistic effort. Pray for an outreach to Muslims, who have been unresponsive to previous efforts.-JS
