I Cor. 1:8
"He will keep you strong to the end, so that you will be blameless on the day of our Lord Jesus Christ."

One of the key reasons why Buddhist and animistic peoples follow after false gods is that they believe they will be given strength and power that will benefit them in this life. Though power can be used for good or for evil, we as followers of Christ understand that we must submit to the strength of the Almighty Lord. He directs our lives for His Kingdom, not for our comfort and pleasure. This can make it hard for peoples who seek spiritual power and control to accept Christ’s lordship. But it’s not about us; it’s about Him!

Pray that the unreached peoples of the Mekong River regions will understand His lordship and embrace His Kingdom, no matter what the personal costs may be.

Fervent Prayer Life for Cross-Cultural Workers in Yunnan

(Continued from yesterday) How would Fraser emerge victorious from his bout of depression? It came when he read a magazine called, The Overcomer. He was reminded of James 4:7, where the believer is exhorted to “be clear-minded and self-controlled so that you can pray.” Prayer delivered James Fraser!

Fraser learned to pray out of sheer necessity. His prayer time was not counted in minutes, but in hours. For years he prayed, filling the incense bowls (Rev. 5) until the breakthrough came. And then the eyes of Lisu hearts began to be turned from the jaded spirits that they appeased to the One True God who loved them. A people movement had begun.

But as Lisus began to give their hearts to the Savior, there was a need for materials to help them in their new faith. Using his musical abilities, Fraser developed a book of hymns with the help of the new believers. It was a great joy for the Lisus, who are noted for their great singing ability, to use their talents to praise the King of Kings.

Lisu evangelists were bringing in the harvest, and the people movement to Christ was in full swing. By 1918, there were 60,000 baptized Lisu believers. For his part, Fraser organized the new believers into churches that became models not only for the Lisus but for other people groups as well.
