Acts 13:47
"For this is what the Lord has commanded us: 'I have made you a light for the Gentiles, that you may bring salvation to the ends of the earth.'"

Instead of quoting his own commission to the Gentiles given to him on the road to Damascus, he chose to quote God’s commission of all Jews as found in Isaiah 49:6. In rejecting that commission, the Jewish leaders who listened to Paul not only rejected the Gentiles and Paul; they rejected God Himself. As a result, Paul turned to the Gentiles, who immediately “began rejoicing and glorifying the work of the Lord.” The result? “The Word of the Lord spread through the whole region.” Yes, the nations are responsive to the gospel, if we will only bring it to them!

Pray that the Lord will lead His workers to members of unreached people groups who are most responsive.

India Gospel Outreach Work in Europe

Valson Abraham, president of India Gospel Outreach (IGO), remembers well and follows the admonition of his mentor, Dr. Donald McGavran, at Fuller Theological Seminary: “Win the winnable while they are winnable.” Abraham is encouraging Indian believers in the U.K. to do just that. Those attending a London IGO conference where Abraham spoke responded enthusiastically to his exhortations to reach new Indian immigrants. Away from their homeland, new immigrants are in deep culture shock and open to responding to the gospel. After a few years they will not be as reachable as they are when they first arrive.

The U.K. is admitting an increasing stream of immigrants to provide basic services. Indian immigration to the U.K. has increased rapidly from one million in 2001 to more than 1.6 million in 2008. Indian immigrants comprise more than six percent of the population of Greater London and Birmingham. A high percent of Indian nurses in the U.K. are believers.

Liberalism dominates British churches, and the mission vision has greatly diminished during the last couple of decades. It is ironic that the collapse of faith in Jesus in the U.K. may be avoided through the prayer and mission efforts of an immigrant group, Indian Evangelicals.

Pray for Indian Christians and their church planting and evangelistic efforts to be the catalyst to bring revival to the United Kingdom. Pray that IGO’s efforts will bring faith in Jesus to each unreached South Asian people in that country.-JS
