Two factors are quite significant in this single statement. The first is that Philip, a layman, began sharing the gospel outside of Jerusalem. The second is that Philip, a Jew, was sharing the good news with the Samaritans-people who were cultural enemies of the Jews, and he was having tremendous success. What a testimony to the love of Christ! Think of those groups that you consider enemies. Yet among these peoples are many unreached peoples. Will national prejudice blind us to the needs of these peoples, or will we allow the love of Christ to break down the barriers of suspicion and misunderstanding?
Pray that God will use us to bless the “Samaritans” in our lives.
The beautiful Alps are a magnificent backdrop for the verdant valleys below them. Their very majesty points to our creator God. These are the Albanian Alps near the Albanian/Kosovan border, and they are home to a very isolated, impoverished people, the Gorans, who number about 50,000 speakers with no written word or Bible. Daily they see God’s beautiful creation, but they live for the most part very hopeless lives because they do not know the Creator. Contributing to the Goran’s despair is joblessness, which ranges at 75-80 percent, and low salaries, resulting in a lack of interest in studying. Many students cannot even afford the bus fares to go to schools and colleges, and so they don’t go.
Global Recordings Network (GRN) is trying to bring hope to these people, particularly the students, through recordings that tell the gospel story. These recordings are in CD and DVD format, and they are available and ready for distribution.
Another GRN project is in neighboring Slovenia. Last August GRN finished recordings in the Slovenian language and is distributing DVDs and CDs to students, young people and adults. The population of almost two million is mostly Roman Catholic.Learn more at joshuaproject.net
Pray for God to create a hunger and readiness in students’ hearts to hear His truth, recognize it as the answer for their lives and receive Jesus as their Savior. Pray for distribution efforts of GRN to be effective in bringing hope to these students.-JS
