Psalms 49:7-8
"No man can redeem the life of another or give to God a ransom for him-the ransom for a life is costly, no payment is ever enough..."

Did you see the movie, “The Passion of the Christ”? If you did, you may remember the scene in the Garden of Gethsemane where Satan is trying to tempt Jesus into bypassing the cross. He tells Jesus that it is impossible for man to pay for the life of another. So true, but so false in this case! Jesus is the only son of the Living God, so He alone can pay for the sins of the world. Muslims try to achieve salvation by obeying the words of Mohammed, while Buddhists and Hindus seek to obey their way to a better reincarnation. But only Christ can pay for their sins. No sin is forgiven, except by the blood of Christ.

Pray for the Muslims, Hindus and Buddhists to seek out and find to their only redeemer!

Student work in Amsterdam

Lonely international students in Amsterdam have found friendship and learned of the unconditional love of Jesus at “The Bridge,” a weekly café-style meeting with Amy and Simon Durrant. Some have even trusted Christ for their salvation. The Durrants work in cooperation with a local International Fellowship of Evangelical Students (IFES) group, a nearby church, and Friends International U.K. They offer foreign students a place to meet, talk, and pray about their concerns. Students looking for answers can choose from a range of Bible study groups. If they do come to faith in Christ, the Durrants and other Christian volunteers disciple them so that they can grow and mature in their faith. They learn to use their emerging spiritual gifts to serve others. They also learn to lead others to the Lord and disciple new believers of their own nationality.

These foreign students can be more effective witnesses to people from their own culture than a Western missionary might be. Once they graduate and return home, they can spread the gospel in their home countries. This is especially important in countries closed to missionaries. Reaching international students with the gospel is a cost-effective way to get the gospel into areas where people have never had a chance to understand the Truth.
