John 13:34
"A new commandment I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another."

Jesus really knew how to set the bar high! Love one another like He loved us? How can anyone love us like the Lord? We know from later verses that this can be done, but only with the power of the Holy Spirit, the “counselor” (14:17) that came on the day of Pentecost. When you think about it, only the true, devoted, unconditional love of the Lord can draw men to Him. As I Corinthians 13 points out, we can do all the right things, but without the love, it will be meaningless. The unreached people groups have experienced religion, but they haven’t experienced the love of the One True God.

Pray that the Holy Spirit will give you the love that will draw the unreached to Himself.

GRN’s Saber Project

Many years ago Joy Ridderhof and Stuart Mills, two veteran missionaries, wondered how they would preach the gospel to people groups speaking languages that had no written form. They knew Bible translation was a time consuming and expensive process. So Joy and Stuart began looking for an alternative. The two founders of Gospel Recordings (now known as the Global Recording Network, GRN) developed the hand cranked gramophone, along with vinyl records for such a device to play.

Over the years, the hand cranked gramophone, once known as the “Mills Bomb” revolutionized mission field evangelism. It was now possible to record seven-minute gospel messages on tapes once GRN team members learned the local language. Missionaries no longer had to repeat the same messages over and over again.

As technology advanced, GRN replaced the “Mills Bomb” with a hand-cranked cassette recorder. In more recent years they began to use a hand cranked MP3 player called the Saber device. That’s a good thing because the original hand cranked gramophone was called the “Mills Bomb” because it looked like a bomb. Today such a device would never get past an airport security checkpoint!

There are many people groups speaking unwritten languages in the Caucasus region of Russia who can benefit from the Saber device.
