After performing all the miraculous signs that proved His identity, Jesus started toward Jerusalem. The crowds followed. The Pharisees said to one another, “Look how the whole world has gone after Him!” Then some Greeks came requesting to see Jesus. John’s gospel reaches a dramatic moment: Jesus responded by saying that His hour had come. His glorification in death and resurrection would be the answer for these Greeks and others, both Jew and Gentile, wanting to see Him. He had come to draw all men to Himself, and now a representative world was ready and waiting.
Pray that the Savior will draw some to Himself from every tribe and language and people. Pray that we will help the peoples to “see Jesus!”
There are two branches of the Circassian peoples. One branch known as Adygei, described yesterday, are located in Russia’s southwest, while the Kabardian Cherkess are located to the north of the Adygei. There are more than 300,000 of them in Russia. Despite formidable efforts by the Russians to assimilate them, they have managed to maintain their cultural identity.
The Islamic beliefs of the Kabardian Cherkess people keep them very tightly insulated from outside influences. Unfortunately, when a box is sealed so tightly, it not only keeps away the threats, but it can keep out light and nutrition as well. So it is with the Kabardian people. They are very resistant to the light of truth in the gospel. In urban areas, the Karbardians are often in leadership positions and wield influence over entire sectors of society. Their conversion could yield a great harvest. Sadly, there is not even one known believer in this people group. Although they have the New Testament and cassette tapes, there is no fruit from these due to their resistance. Only prayer and the mighty hand of God can find the way to their hearts.Learn more at joshuaproject.net
Pray that Circassian leaders will come to know Christ and will use their influence to lead their people to the Savior. that the Holy Spirit would woo, convict, and teach, and that a great wave of the gospel would wash over them with the love of the Savior and the power of His blood.-PE
