Luke 24:47
"Repentance for forgiveness of sins will be preached in His Name to all the nations, beginning at Jerusalem."

No one is exempt from the necessity of repenting of his or her sins in order to find forgiveness. Nor is any disciple of Jesus excluded from the wonderful responsibility of proclaiming His Name to all nations. If all Christians took this obligation more seriously, the nations would quickly hear of the urgent necessity of repentance and the wonderful availability of eternal life. All believers are “witnesses of these things” (vs. 48). Does your witness extend to the nations? Are you praying daily for the world’s unreached peoples? Does at least part of your missions giving go to those places where there is not yet an indigenous fellowship?

Pray that we will exalt His Name among the nations.

Ginukh People of Russia

There are only 300 of them and they live in one village! These are the Ginukh or Hinux people, and their village lies in the place where Georgia, Azerbaijan and Russia come together. They speak a distinct but unwritten language, their only unique ethnic feature. Today the language is relegated to domestic use only, since the children are educated in Russian.

Rugged mountains and the severe climate keep their village isolated. The climate is hot and dry in the summer and bitter cold in winter. A form of terraced agriculture is their main source of income, but because of a shortage of tillable land, and the abundance of good alpine pastures, many Ginukhs raise sheep and cattle. A married man is the authoritarian head of the household, while his wife is the housekeeper.

Following an Arab invasion of the 8th century, Islam prevailed among the Ginukh people. Christians evangelized them during the Middle Ages. The 18th century saw the rise of Islam again, until the 20th century, when Soviet Russia outlawed worship, destroyed mosques, and replaced religion with communist ideology. Today the Ginukhs are 99 percent Muslim. Some also believe in magic and the occult; a few practice Animism. There are no known believers and no access to biblical resources.

Pray that soon they will have gospel recordings in their tongue. Pray for intrepid Christian workers to reach the Ginukhs and learn to present the gospel in their heart language. Pray that the Lord will reveal Himself to them even in dreams and visions.-JWS
