Scholars have estimated that Daniel was about 90 years old-toward the end of his lifetime of civil service to successful regimes-when he experienced God’s miraculous protection in the lion’s den. God honored Daniel’s faith and obedience and used him to bless Babylonians, Chaldeans, Medes, and Persians. We may confidently expect to enjoy fellowship together around the throne of God with members of each of these ancient peoples! Daniel was faithful to his mission. Will Daniel be able to enjoy fellowship at that same gathering with representatives of other people groups because we too have been faithful to the task to which the Lord calls us?
Pray that God will give us the perseverance to serve well like Daniel of old.
Muso, a Khasonke youth, had his eyes closed as he played the stringed instrument. He was deep in concentration, hoping that every note would come out just right.
The next day Muso joined the others in planting sorghum seeds. Sorghum and millet are the main crops of this people group that lives mainly in a dry region of Mali but also in neighboring Senegal. Some Khasonkes are musically gifted and some have gone to Europe to hone their skills. Muso hoped he’d be one of them. As he gazed at the nearby fields of yellow grass and the blue sky above at the end of the workday, he wondered if Allah was pleased with his music.
The Khasonkes are mostly Sunni Muslims. Other members of this people group, especially the ones who’d found their way to Europe, are facing the temptation of materialism. A few Khasonke musicians have recorded fast selling albums there. Soon money from rich relatives may flood the Khasonke homeland, making materialism a temptation for the entire people group.Learn more at joshuaproject.net
Pray that seeds of faith in Christ may be planted among the Khasonke people. There is still much work to be done. Most of the Bible still needs to be translated into the Khasonke language and there is no version of the JESUS Film available in their language. Pray that soon, the Holy Spirit will raise up faithful Khasonke believers to spread God’s Word by singing praises to Jesus.-WK
