This is politically incorrect, but so very true! Despite what “religions” teach, all of humanity is sinful by nature. It’s as natural for us to sin as it is for us to breath. We cannot ever completely stop sinning, but we can be forgiven. The missionaries that we send and pray for are inviting the lost to become part of the “family of the forgiven.” What a privilege!
Pray that the Holy Spirit will make it clear to the unreached that they are sinners in need of forgiveness. Pray for God to give boldness to His messengers as they spread His invitation throughout the world.
While you may not have heard of the Chabelle (or Shabelle) people, the difficulties they are currently facing are all too familiar: the rise of HIV/AIDS, slavery, poverty, bigotry, tribal rivalries, ethnic cleansings, oppression of women, etc. Even secure food sources and adequate family healthcare, things often taken for granted in the developed world, are among their pressing needs.
Like other Somali tribes, the Chabelles have suffered greatly during the absence of governmental control in Somalia. The chaos and lawlessness of this decades-old void have contributed to their displacement, marginalization, and the violent deaths of many Chabelle people. They have also seen “aid” arrive, only to be stolen or misappropriated. Troops charged with protecting them have committed rape and other abuses against them. Food blockades and the disruption of water sources have been employed as a means of forcing them from their homeland. Injustice seems to be scrawled in large letters over the Chabelle people. They continue to be treated unfairly, discriminated against, and have no reason to hope for change or relief in the future.Learn more at joshuaproject.net
Pray that God will come to the aid of these suffering people. Ask God to communicate to the Chabelles the abounding hope of life in Jesus Christ. Pray for them to be open to His invitation to forgiveness and salvation. Ask Him to impress upon their hearts the reality that they were uniquely created and have been lovingly sustained for the purpose of knowing and worshipping Him.-CL
