Ecc. 3:14
"I know that everything God does will endure forever; nothing can be added to it and nothing taken from it. God does it so that men will revere Him."

Eternity-this is what Solomon describes here. Eternity is what God is about. Most people live their lives for what is highly perishable. Why put your resources towards a high definition TV set or an earthly home, when you can invest in eternity? Think about it! Above all, pray about it!

Pray that our Heavenly Father will teach us to think of eternity every time our eyes get distracted by the material world.

Oromo People of Somalia and Ethiopia

The most lawless country in the world is Somalia, according to “Operation World.” That country slid into clan warfare in the early 1990s when rebels fought for independence of the southern Oromo region, alleging government discrimination against the Oromo people, one of the largest ethnic groups in the Horn of Africa.

Most of the fighting was in agricultural lands, which induced a terrible famine. Persistent and debilitating drought has plagued both Somalia and southern Ethiopia, home of over two and a half million Oromos. There are at least five million chronically food-insecure people like the Oromos in southern Ethiopia. These people are pastoralists and agro-pastoralists. If they lose their livestock through drought or war, they lose more than just their herds; it means no food and no income.

A regional program in part of southern Ethiopia where the Oromo people live is attempting to combat the effects of the persistent health emergencies. They offer preventive health care, water and sanitation provisions, and HIV-AIDS prevention.

Pray for the protection of the few Oromo believers, growth in their faith, and boldness to witness as opportunities arise. Pray for workers to be called, prepared and ready for the opening of defiantly closed doors in parts of Somalia where Oromo people live so that a strong Church among the Oromo people can be established.-MH
