The world often seems to be out of control. Satan does all he can to kill, steal and destroy the lives of people everywhere, and man’s selfish, sinful nature plays right into this evil plan. But we have read the end of the Book, God’s Book, the Bible, and we know that He will prevail in the end. Shouldn’t we be concerned for those whose lives are heading towards disaster?
Pray that the Holy Spirit will prompt your heart to pray for those heading towards disaster.
After a 17-year civil war ending in 1992, Mozambique has been slowly recovering. The Lolo people of that nation have suffered loss of large game animals as a result of the war, but they have continued improving their source of food through other means. According to the Sociolinguistic Survey of the Lolo People (SSLP), the Lolo people raise their own food to support themselves. They eat from their own gardens but they also have chickens, goats and other domestic livestock. The Lolo people are fortunate to have a sufficient water supply with the two rivers that run through their land. Clean water is essential not only for farming, but also to avoid water-borne diseases.
The Joshua Project states that the religion of the Lolos is traditionally ancestor worship. The number of believers in this region is unknown, but in the past few years there have been new mission efforts and a church has been planted. A July, 2006 article written by New Tribes Mission reports that one mission team has been working with the Lolos and learning the language. They completed their first 20 Bible stories to teach the Lolo people. The stories span the time from creation to Passover.Learn more at joshuaproject.net
Pray for the Lolo people to have soft hearts and open ears to hear the gospel that is just beginning to take hold in their region. Pray that these Bible stories will have a lasting impact on the Lolo people.-KW
