In one way, the Lord has made His salvation known to all the earth. According to what we read in Romans 1, creation itself reveals God’s glory to all the nations. Everyone knows something of God’s righteousness through what they see around them. Some may grasp for straws through evolution and other absurd explanations of the origins of the universe, but they are merely ignoring the obvious. All they have to do is look to His creation, and they will see the genius of the Creator.
Pray that as the unreached peoples look around them at His creation, that they will see His work, and begin their path to salvation.
High in the mountains of Kyrgyzstan we find one of the poorest of the former Soviet states. Nearly five million people live in Kyrgyzstan. Kyrgyz people who live in the mountains make their living mainly by sheep farming. The mountainous areas are generally unsuited for farming, so they grow crops of wheat, potatoes and fruit in the limited fertile lowlands.
The Kyrgyz women also make beautiful carpets. They work hard, both inside the home and out in the fields, so it is not surprising that they have also taken it upon themselves to tackle the collapsed health care system. Currently, health problems and alcohol abuse are damaging their communities. Kyrgyz children labor in coal mines under dangerous and unhealthy conditions. These mines were abandoned during the Soviet-era, but the people excavate coal themselves as a way to survive. Kyrgyz women are now taking the challenge to improve these poor living conditions.
Most Kyrgyz people consider themselves Shi’ite Muslims, but they mainly practice shamanism. They are a very friendly and hospitable people. Story telling is an important part of their culture. The JESUS Film and Christian radio is available in Kyrgyz.Learn more at joshuaproject.net
Pray that the JESUS Film would soften Kyrgyz hearts toward Christ so that they will be receptive to the gospel. Ask God to raise up and send workers, giving them favor and wisdom as they show His love by their lives and in their sharing of God’s story.-MH
