Look at the contrast here: the gods are mere idols of wood, stone and metal. But the Lord is the Creator. That means He created the wood, stone and gold used to make the idols, not to mention the galaxies! Given a choice, whom would you worship? Don’t the nations have a right to know their Creator, so they can ditch these worthless idols and worship Him alone?
Pray that our intercession this month will result in as many from every tribe, tongue and nation turning from worthless idols to worship the One who made heaven and earth.
Where do some Jews speak Yiddish and live in peace with Muslim neighbors? Azerbaijan, a Shi’ite Muslim nation that does things their own way. Azerbaijan even has good relations with Israel. From 1870 to 1918, many Jewish people went to Baku, Azerbaijan to make their living through the oil industry and to have freedom from persecution. Through the years, Jews have contributed much to this region’s culture. Jewish intellectuals have promoted education and produced a Nobel Prize winning physicist, Lev Landau. Jewish artisans, chess players, and sports figures from Azerbaijan have become world famous.
No matter what they have achieved, no matter what tolerance they enjoy, they need Jesus! Some adhere to traditional Jewish beliefs, but most have adopted a secular lifestyle. Many have even intermarried with Muslims.
Perhaps this is the time these dear people will receive the Messiah who came and donated His precious blood to save them. They desperately need our intercession. God must reveal the Truth to them if they are to understand the grace Jesus Christ offers.Learn more at joshuaproject.net
Pray that the Holy Spirit will remove the spiritual cataracts from unseeing eyes. Ask the Lord to soften the hearts of Jewish people in Azerbaijan toward believers and send more workers to proclaim the gospel in word and deed. Also ask the Lord to move on behalf of the tent-making believers who live and work in Azerbaijan communities.-AK
