One of the main things people seek in Eastern religion is peace. There is an inner peace that all of us lack in our souls. Christ offers peace, but not the kind of peace that the world offers. He offers the kind of peace that only comes from knowing that the Creator of the Universe is in control of our lives. Our hope comes from God alone, our rock and salvation. At this time, there are 10,000 unreached people groups that have no chance to experience this kind of peace.
Pray that as the nations come to the Father, they will experience peace in their souls that only can come from a relationship with Christ.
‘“This is the verdict: Light has come into the world, but men loved darkness instead of light because their deeds were evil (John 3:19).”’ NIV. Sumir looked at his friend Omar, and noticed an alarmed look on his face after they read this verse together. Omar blurted out, “That explains why there is so much evil in the world! People would rather sin than to go to the light! This should be obvious, but I have never thought of it before. Did you say that the Prophet Isa said this?”
Though this is only a story, it illustrates what is happening with the Kurdish Gospel of John among Central Asia’s Kurdish peoples. When the Kurds hear the Gospel of John in their own language, they can sometimes respond like Omar did in this story, or they might become angry. Among the several hundred Muslim-background Kurdish believers, there are few secret believers. In order to join a Kurdish fellowship, they must tell two Muslims about their new life in Christ. Kurdish church leaders often wind up in jail.
In June, believers introduced early drafts of all four gospels in the Kurdish language to Kurdish communities. Translators hope to have the entire New Testament translated by the end of this year.Learn more at joshuaproject.net
Pray for an accurate Kurdish translation to be available in time to celebrate Christ’s birth next month. Pray that Kurdish Muslims will find Jesus to be the Pearl of Great Price when they read His Word in their language.-KC
